Quick Hits: The economy, interviews and fan projects

With our brains about to be melted by some amazing, new Game of thrones dvd footage tonight, I figure we should get this news roundup out of the way now.

The First Minister of Northern Ireland has stated that the investment into HBO’s Game Of Thrones has brought back millions into the local economy, according to the BBC.
An interview with Roxanne McKee (Doreah) at After Ellen where she mentions Thrones. Interestingly she mentions she has done all her filming in Ireland.
Another interview, this one with Conan Stevens (Gregor) at Obesity Campaign UK, where he talks about his workout regimen and his role in Thrones. He describes Gregor as “a man of few words, more a man of action, often direct violent and very effective action.” Sounds about right to me.
One more interview, this time with Kate Dickie (Lysa) in the Guardian. She talks about her being typecast in roles of “damaged, repressed and ostensibly unsympathetic women.” Her role on Thrones gets a mention at the end of the article, “She just has time to tell me that her character Lysa is a ‘troubled, lonely’ woman, at which revelation she pulls a self-mocking face: ‘There’s a surprise.’”
In the fan department we have this post from Thrones fan and fashion blogger, educated pony. She gives her thoughts on what we have seen of the costumes so far.
Also, Thrones fan and amateur composer Hilario Abad has continued to create tracks inspired by A Game of Thrones and now has plans to release a full soundtrack of music.
Lastly, HBO’s own Making Game Of Thrones blog has been highlighting fan artwork inspired by the books. Head on over to check out some fresh looks at some familiar characters.
UPDATE: Two more bits for you guys, and then we are complete. Here is a mention of Wilko Johnson (Ilyn Payne) on a popular culture blog featuring a short clip of Johnson presenting an award for music journalism. And here you can find an article on Aimee Richardson who has been cast as Myrcella Baratheon on Game of Thrones. Says Aimee: ‘”I loved it, it is the biggest thing I have done, and the costumes and set were very lifelike.’”
There are now less than 3 hours to go until HBO airs their Inside Game Of Thrones special, set to start at 8:45 PM EST (1:45 AM GMT), 15 minutes prior to Boardwalk Empire‘s season finale.
